Ingredients:
• 1 cup raw organic honey
• 1 tablespoon fresh ginger root (grated)
• 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra soothing and decongestion)
Instructions:
1. Prepare Ingredients: Grate the ginger root and squeeze fresh lemon juice.
2. Combine: In a small saucepan, mix the honey, grated ginger, cinnamon, and cayenne (if using). Heat on low for 5 minutes to let the flavors infuse. Do not boil to preserve honey’s properties.
3. Strain (optional): If you prefer a smooth syrup, strain out the ginger bits.
4. Cool and Add Lemon: Once cooled, stir in the lemon juice.
5. Store: Pour into a sterilized glass jar or bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
How to Use:
• Take 1-2 teaspoons every 3-4 hours as needed to soothe coughing.
Additional Tips:
• For extra benefits, you can add thyme or chamomile for their antimicrobial properties.
• Pair this syrup with herbal teas like peppermint, licorice root, or slippery elm for extra relief.
